The best local products
In spite of these difficulties, we are aware of the importance of food when you practice a physical activity in the mountains. This is why we take special care in cooking. We want the food we cook to be natural, balanced and tasty at the same time.
For us it is important to work with the best local products. We want our customers learn about what is going on in those valleys besides of getting to know well about our mountains. This is why we try to have the best of the authentic products elaborated in an artisan way in the nearest valleys of the Ribagorça, Valle de Boí and Valle de Aran.
The Noguera’s “arbequina’ olive oil; the organic wine from Costers del Segre. And how could it be otherwise in a mountain refuge, we also have “altitude wines”, those of Can Sumoi from friend Pepe Raventós. Sausages, cheeses and pâtés from Ribagorça and Val d’Aran, the same as the meats. Bread from the Vielha market. El Refu craft beer is made in Bossost, as are the organic apple juices and ciders. Encantaran dried tomatoes are made by a friend.
We do not have a vegan menu, but we can prepare you one if you advise us with sufficient advanced notice. Due to the complexity of the supply and the special characteristics of the kitchen, we cannot offer a vegan menu. Allergies and intolerances will be attended to within our possibilities, always taking into account that we have only one kitchen and we cannot guarantee that the menus do not contain traces.
We have always been concerned about offering the best food. This has brought us to be the first refuge to win the AMED accreditation given by the Dirección General de Salud Pública del Departamento de Salud de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalonian Health Department) in charge of promoting Mediterranean food.
